Scenic Travel Photos Make a Fab Calendar

I Collected Photos for Every Month of the Year

By Anna Krejci

January is a month when I do not travel much, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy looking at photos of the places where I have been.  Since January is a time when I usually get a new calendar for the year, I thought it would be fun to organize my travel photos as if I was getting a customized photo calendar.

Below I have photos that were taken during each month; the photos were taken over the last six years.  Looking at each photo reminds me of the joy I had from traveling to these places.  You might like visiting these locations, too, or you probably have travel photos of your own that you could organize for a custom calendar for your personal use.  However you decide to spend your time in 2025, I hope you gain some ideas for being outbound.

January

The sun sets as seen through the trees at Liberty Park in Twinsburg, Ohio.  Snow covered the ground. Liberty Park is part of the Summit Metro Parks.  I enjoy hiking on its multiple trails.

February

During one February, I saw an orchid show at the Cleveland Botanical Garden.  I enjoyed being among the colorful plants while in the heart of winter.

March

Acacia Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks pictured during March.  I hiked in this park, which is in Lyndhurst.

April

Our yard in April has been decorated with purple pansies, seen in this hanging pot.  We only traveled just outside our door, but we were still outbound in the outdoorsy sense.  Enjoy being in your own yard, too.

May

I stand next to a grill at Punderson State Park Campground one May.  My spouse and I cooked our dinner over the hot embers after hiking along the lake.

June

President Abraham Lincoln’s home in Springfield, Ill.  I visited during one June.  The Lincoln Home is a National Historic Site, overseen by the National Park Service.

July

Mentor Marsh is a state nature preserve that is cared for by the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.  It is located along the Lake Erie shoreline.  I was there during one July.

August

The old station in Yellow Springs, Ohio sits alongside the Little Miami Scenic Trail.  I love walking or cycling on that trail.  Yellow Springs has interesting shops and restaurants and is very walkable.  I was there during August.

September

Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.  I visited one year during the month of September.

October

In The West Woods, a park of the Geauga Park District, I hiked on the Ansel’s Cave Trail, which featured rocks, elevated wooden walkways and great views of fall foliage.

November

For one November, I was at a Christmas tree farm in rural Northeast Ohio.  I harvested a tree to decorate for that holiday season.

December

The World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock at Sugarcreek, Ohio is situated on a corner of downtown.  I visited during the month of December one year.
